Football Recap: Milton Hershey Spartans vs. Middletown Blue Raiders
After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Hershey, Milton Hershey was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They skirted past the Middletown Blue Raiders 21-19. That's more bragging rights for the Spartans, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.
Kah'Dyn Gann-Luckett went supernova for Milton Hershey, rushing for 189 yards and a touchdown while picking up 11.1 yards per carry, and also catching a touchdown. Another player making a difference was Elijah Hopkins, who threw for 69 yards and two touchdowns while completing 83.3% of his passes.
Milton Hershey was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 377 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Middletown only rushed for 111.
Milton Hershey wouldn't let Middletown keep a hold of the ball as they managed to force two fumbles. Milton Hershey can thank Damian Mattos and John Alicia for forcing both of them.
Several Blue Raiders players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Gavin Paul, who rushed for 81 yards and two touchdowns. Paul got the majority of those rushing yards when he took off on a run and that went for an incredible 68 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Nickayus Zenon, who picked up 154 receiving yards and a touchdown.
The victory got Milton Hershey back to even at 1-1. As for Middletown, they dropped their record down to 1-1 with that loss, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season.
Milton Hershey is headed away from home for the first time to challenge East Pennsboro at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully East Pennsboro focused on turnovers this week as team gave up four on Friday. As for Middletown, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Greencastle-Antrim at 7:00 p.m.
