Baseball Recap: East Gaston Warriors vs. Shelby Golden Lions
East Gaston won the last time they faced Shelby and things went their way on Tuesday too. East Gaston put the hurt on Shelby with a sharp 14-5 victory. The Warriors might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four games by seven runs or more this season.
Jackson Messer and Payton Matthews made a big impact no matter where they played. On the mound, Messer didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. Meanwhile, Matthews struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk). He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because East Gaston is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 4-5 otherwise. At the plate, Messer went 2-for-5 with two RBI, while Matthews went 2-for-5 with four RBI, one run, and one double. Those four RBI gave Matthews a new career-high.

In other batting news, Dylan Wright was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in four of his six plate appearances. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high.
