Baseball Recap: Francis W. Parker Comes Up Short

If Francis W. Parker was feeling good fresh off their 9-1 takedown of Proviso East last Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Francis W. Parker lost 17-11 to the Proviso West Panthers on Saturday.

Ben Graines put in work no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Lincoln Hamid was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Hunter Hearn was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

Francis W. Parker's loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Proviso West, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-2.

Looking ahead, Francis W. Parker will square off against Northside at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Northside has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.5 runs per game on average), something Francis W. Parker will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Proviso West, they will challenge York at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
