Football Game Preview: St. Patrick's Irish vs. Johnson-Brock Eagles

Two dominant backs in Mason Giebler and Hayden Gravatt are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The St. Patrick's Irish will challenge the Johnson-Brock Eagles at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Friday, everything came up roses for St. Patrick's against Arapahoe as the team secured a 35-2 victory. Considering the Irish have won six matchups by more than 32 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, Johnson-Brock faced Lourdes Central Catholic in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Eagles secured a 28-22 W over the Knights. The win was familiar territory for the Eagles, who have now won three games in a row.

St. Patrick's better keep an eye on Wyatt Fulton. He was instrumental in Johnson-Brock's win, rushing for 87 yards and two touchdowns, while also throwing for 132 yards and one TD while completing 73.3% of his passes. That's the most rushing yards Fulton has posted since back in October of 2024.

Johnson-Brock was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 228 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 190 rushing yards in seven consecutive contests.

St. Patrick's record is now 6-2. As for Johnson-Brock, their record now sits at an identical 6-2.

Thursday's matchup might be decided on the ground. St. Patrick's has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 263.2 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Johnson-Brock struggles in that department as they've been averaging 242.4 rushing yards. There's a good chance Thursday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.
