Volleyball Recap: Richmond Hill's Win on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Richmond Hill had already won two in a row and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They came within a single set of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against The Habersham School Patriots. The Wildcats have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Patriots, too.

Richmond Hill had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next two. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 19-25, 25-13, 15-9.

Richmond Hill can attribute much of their success to Kylee Gilbert, who had 16 digs and one assist. Those 16 digs gave Gilbert a new career-high.

Despite the defeat, The Habersham School had strong showings from Betsy Kelly, who had 17 assists and three digs, and Aniston Smeltzer, who had nine digs. Kelly has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more assists the last three times she's played.

Richmond Hill's win bumped their record up to 3-0. As for The Habersham School, with the loss, they broke their eight-game winning streak and moved their record to 9-3.

Richmond Hill didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 2-0 victory against New Hampstead on the 14th. As for The Habersham School, they have also already played their next contest, a 2-0 defeat against Effingham County on the 19th.
