Basketball Game Preview: Tiftarea Academy Panthers vs. Southland Academy Raiders

Tiftarea Academy and Southland Academy are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2021, but not for long. Having just played yesterday, the Tiftarea Academy Panthers will get right back to it and host the Southland Academy Raiders at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Tiftarea Academy is coming into the matchup on a five-game losing streak.

On Monday, Tiftarea Academy had to suffer through a 71-40 loss at the hands of Southwest Georgia Academy. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 447th, while the Warriors are ranked 92nd).

Meanwhile, Southland Academy came into Friday's game having lost seven straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They blew past Crisp Academy 50-25 on Friday. The Raiders have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four contests by 20 points or more this season.

Tiftarea Academy's loss dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Southland Academy, their win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-8.

Tiftarea Academy didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Southland Academy in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, but they still walked away with a 32-27 victory. Will Tiftarea Academy repeat their success, or does Southland Academy have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
