Basketball Recap: Hoggard's Victory on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Five

Hoggard entered their tilt with West Brunswick on Friday with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. They secured a 66-61 W over the West Brunswick Trojans. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 57-42 back in December of 2024.

Leading Hoggard to victory were Will Seward and Hunter McGrath. Seward dropped a double-double on 18 points and 13 rebounds, while McGrath went 8 of 14 on his way to 19 points and three steals. With that strong performance, Seward is now averaging an impressive 15.1 points per game. Aidan Locklear was another key player, putting up eight points and five boards.

West Brunswick lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being K'Veon Griffin, who went 5 for 8 en route to 16 points. Griffin is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Matthew McKenney, who went 6 of 11 on his way to 15 points.

Hoggard pushed their record up to 13-2 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road. As for West Brunswick, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-7.

After both having extra time off, Hoggard and North Brunswick will dust off their jerseys to square off against one another at 7:30 p.m. on January 28th. One thing working in Hoggard's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last seven matchups. As for West Brunswick, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Laney at 7:30 p.m. on January 28th. Laney is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 58.9 points per game this season.
