Baseball Game Preview: Colerain Cardinals vs. Fairfield Indians

The Colerain Cardinals will head out on the road to challenge the Fairfield Indians at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Colerain will be strutting in after a victory while Fairfield will be coming in after a defeat.

Colerain was handed a 14-run loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Wednesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Oak Hills 5-4. The victory continues a trend for the Cardinals in their matchups with the Highlanders: they've now won three in a row.

Craig Smith was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. Nathan Johnson was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI and one double.

Meanwhile, Fairfield was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their 13th straight defeat. They fell 9-5 to Hamilton.

Fairfield's loss dropped their record down to 2-19. As for Colerain, their win bumped their record up to 8-9.

Colerain beat Fairfield 11-7 in their previous matchup on Monday. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cardinals since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
