Softball Recap: Rushville's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Rushville's game on Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They blew past the Batesville Bulldogs 10-3. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Lions as it put an end to their five-game losing streak.

Becca Tabeling made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She tossed seven innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits. Tabeling was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one run.

In other batting news, Rushville let Makenna Ripberger and Ella Bowles run wild. Ripberger went 1-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple, while Bowles went 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI. That's the most runs Ripberger has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Kiara Flannery, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Rushville was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. They are 3-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Rushville's win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-6 and their overall record up to 3-9. As for Batesville, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-7.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Rushville beat the Bulldogs by a score of 12-2 later that day.
