Basketball Game Preview: Theodore Bobcats vs. Murphy Panthers

A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Theodore Bobcats take on the Murphy Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday... Murphy took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Theodore, who comes in off a win.

Theodore's tournament run continued when they took on Douglas County on Saturday. Theodore walked away with a 63-52 victory over Douglas County. Given the Bobcats' advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 87th in Alabama, while the Tigers are ranked 366th in Georgia), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Murphy unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell 46-39 to Minor. The game marked the Panthers' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Theodore will have to contain Cordairus Dixon as he made an impact in Murphy's last game. He went 8 for 17 on his way to 18 points and three steals. Dixon's afternoon made it five games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayden Mangram, who posted 13 points and five boards.

The win got Theodore back to even at 8-8. As for Murphy, their defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 13-4.

Theodore came up short against Murphy in their previous meeting back in February, falling 63-57. Can Theodore avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
