Baseball Recap: Vineland Comes Up Short

Vineland suffered their biggest loss since May 20, 2025 on Wednesday. They came up short against the St. Augustine Prep Hermits, falling 20-4. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Hermits this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 4-1 on Tuesday.

Vineland got a good showing from Jacob Brown, who pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the fewest earned runs Brown has allowed over his last two games.

At the plate, Vineland saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mario Toro, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one run and one RBI.

This is the second loss in a row for Vineland and nudges their season record down to 9-6. As for St. Augustine Prep, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 13-3-1.

Looking ahead, Vineland will be playing at home against Schalick at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for St. Augustine Prep, they are taking a road trip to take on Gloucester Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Hermits' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Rams have averaged an impressive 7.8 runs per game this season.
