Basketball Recap: Dove Creek's Luck Changes for the Better on Tuesday

Dove Creek hadn't done well against Mancos recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Dove Creek Bulldogs walked away with a 39-26 victory over the Mancos Bluejays. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Bulldogs as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

Dove Creek's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Josh Kibel, who went 5 of 8 on his way to 12 points and eight steals. Those eight steals gave Kibel a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Liam Hassell, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds.

Dove Creek smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in nine consecutive games.

The win got Dove Creek back to even at 5-5. As for Mancos, they are on a 13-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-12.

Dove Creek wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 46-42 victory against Ridgway on the 18th. Mancos has also already played their next contest, a 49-39 loss against Dolores on the 17th.
