Baseball Game Preview: Pearl Pirates vs. Columbia Wildcats

Pearl is on a three-game streak of home losses, and Columbia a three-game streak of away losses. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Saturday. The Pearl Pirates will host the Columbia Wildcats at 2:00 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

On Friday, Pearl came up short against Brandon and fell 7-4.

Meanwhile, Columbia came up short against Purvis on Friday, falling 14-6.

MT Breland made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of JP Haddox, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Pearl's loss dropped their record down to 4-12. As for Columbia, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-8.

Pearl couldn't quite finish off Columbia in their previous meeting back in March of 2016 and fell 7-5. Can the Pirates avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
