Greencastle had already won eight in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 17.3 points) and they went ahead and made it nine on Friday. They came within six points of losing the streak, but they secured a 65-59 W against the South Putnam Eagles. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 56-50 back in December of 2024.

Greencastle got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Nathan Sutherlin out in front who went 7-for-14 on his way to 21 points and five rebounds. Trevin Long was another key player, going 6-for-9 to rack up 19 points.

When it comes to explaining why South Putnam lost, don't look at Khalil Jefferson. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double with 16 points and 13 boards. That's the most rebounds Jefferson has posted since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Wyatt Switzer, who went 5-for-8 en route to 12 points.

Greencastle's record now sits at 15-5. As for South Putnam, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-12.

Greencastle didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 63-48 loss against Cascade on the 18th. As for South Putnam, they have also already played their next game, a 78-58 defeat against Southmont on the 18th.
