Volleyball Recap: Devils Lake Comes Up Short

Devils Lake was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Carrington Cardinals. If the Firebirds were looking for revenge after losing 2-0 to the Cardinals when the teams met back in September of 2016, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Devils Lake started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The final score came out to 20-25, 25-14, 25-21, 25-19.

Despite the loss, Devils Lake still got an impressive performance from Julia McIvor, who had 36 digs. McIvor is crushing it when it comes to digs: she's had at least 12 every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Elin Skaar, who had 16 digs.

Devils Lake's loss dropped their record down to 5-4-1. As for Carrington, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 6-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Devils Lake will face off against Grafton at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Carrington, they will square off against Harvey at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
