Softball Recap: Nardin Academy Gators vs. Mount Mercy Academy Magic

Nardin Academy can now show off nine landslide victories after their most recent match on Tuesday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Mount Mercy Academy Magic a 10-0 shutout. Winning may never get old, but Nardin Academy sure is getting used to it with their sixth in a row.

Erin Nuwer made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing an inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Nuwer has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in nine consecutive pitching appearances. Nuwer was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Molly Griffin and Emily Gorman did most of the damage at the plate: Griffin went 1-for-2 with a home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Gorman went 2-for-3 with a home run, two runs, and a double.

Nardin Academy pushed their record up to 14-2 with that win, which was their seventh straight at home. As for Mount Mercy Academy, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-8.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Nardin Academy will square off against Mount St. Mary Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
