Baseball Game Preview: Lakeview Charter Lions vs. Heritage Christian Warriors

The Lakeview Charter Lions will venture away from home to square off against the Heritage Christian Warriors at 3:15 p.m. on Friday. Lakeview Charter is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.1 runs per game this season.

While Lakeview Charter's win against Valley Oaks CES wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Lions sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 12-10 victory over the Vanguards on Wednesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Lions have posted since March 3rd.

Julian De La Pena was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-4. Lakeview Charter is undefeated when De La Pena posts two or more runs, but 4-5 otherwise.

Meanwhile, Heritage Christian was able to grind out a solid victory over Buckley on Thursday, taking the game 7-2. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Warriors.

Lakeview Charter is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Heritage Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 12-4-1.

Lakeview Charter might still be hurting after the 12-0 loss they got from Heritage Christian in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Can the Lions avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
