Basketball Recap: Potomac Comes Up Short

Potomac was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They were four points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 38-34 heartbreaker at the hands of the Crossland Cavaliers. The Wolverines were probably out for revenge after losing 38-15 to them when the teams met back in January of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Crossland's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Zaida Birruete led the charge by putting up 12 points. Camille Townsend was another key player, posting 11 points.

Potomac's defeat dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Crossland, the win snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 5-6 record.

Potomac will square off against Chesapeake Math & IT Academy North at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Crossland, they will challenge Douglass at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday.
