Basketball Recap: Port Gibson Blue Waves vs. South Pike Eagles
Port Gibson was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They lost 60-34 to the South Pike Eagles. The Blue Waves were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Eagles apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.
When it comes to explaining why Port Gibson lost, don't look at Ger'Kiya Flowers. Despite the final result, she posted 18 points. Another player making a difference was Destiny Neal, who scored four points and seven boards.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead South Pike to victory, but perhaps none more so than Shalia Johnson, who had ten points and seven steals. Port Gibson's loss dropped their record down to 4-16. As for South Pike, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 8-7.
