Soccer Game Preview: Nansemond River vs. Hickory

Nansemond River is 1-8 against Hickory since April of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Warriors will face off against the Hawks at 7:00 p.m. Neither team made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Nansemond River is likely headed into the matchup with a focus on the second half, which is when things went downhill against Maury on Friday. The Warriors fell 2-0 to the Commodores.

Meanwhile, Hickory hasn't lost a match since April 23rd, a trend which continued in their latest game on Monday. Neither they nor Gloucester could gain the upper hand so the two teams had to settle for a 1-1 draw. Hickory's loss signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.

Nansemond River's defeat dropped their record down to 6-5-1. Hickory's draw gives them a new season record of 8-4-1.

Nansemond River couldn't quite get it done against Hickory in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 as they fell 2-0. Can the Warriors avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
