Baseball Game Preview: Douglas Byrd Eagles vs. South View Tigers

Douglas Byrd hasn't had much luck against South View recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. Douglas Byrd will be playing at home against South View at 6:00 p.m. Douglas Byrd has given up an average of 23.6 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Douglas Byrd is headed into Tuesday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 31st straight game dating back to last season on Friday. They came up short against Jack Britt, falling 21-1.

Meanwhile, South View had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. They put the hurt on the Fighting Scots with a sharp 9-2 victory. Considering the Tigers have won seven contests by more than six runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

David Ramsey spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on four hits. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because South View is 5-2 when he allows at most two walks, but 3-4 otherwise.

At the plate, Koltyn Ziegler was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since March 4th. Avery Barbour was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

South View's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-6. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.7 runs over those games. As for Douglas Byrd, their loss dropped their record down to 0-8.
