Basketball Recap: Burke Takes a Loss

After flying high against Bryan on Friday, Burke came back down to earth. The Burke Bulldogs fell 57-48 to the Lincoln North Star Navigators on Saturday. The Bulldogs have struggled against the Navigators recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost meetings.

Despite the loss, Burke still got an impressive performance from Jay Svoboda, who went 6-for-14 on his way to 16 points and seven rebounds. The dominant performance gave Svoboda a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Michael White, who posted ten points.

Lincoln North Star's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but William Schafer led the charge by shooting 46% from the field en route to 15 points and eight boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordan Castor, who went 5-for-12 to rack up 17 points.

Burke's loss dropped their record down to 10-16. As for Lincoln North Star, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 13 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-5 record this season.

Burke does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Lincoln North Star, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 68-47 victory against Kearney on the 3rd.
