Baseball Recap: Hernando Triumphs

Hernando extended their postseason success on Wednesday against The Villages Charter. They never let the Buffalo get on the board and left with a 2-0 victory. This was a revenge game for the Leopards: when they faced off against the Buffalo on Tuesday, they had to take a 6-5 defeat.

Not much got past Austin Knierim, who gave up just four hits and racked up seven Ks to keep The Villages Charter off the board. Knierim also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Hernando is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 12-14 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Landon Euler was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one double. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Palmer Looper, who got on base in two of his three plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.

Hernando's win bumped their record up to 17-14. As for The Villages Charter, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 23-7.

Hernando will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Buffalo: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
