Basketball Game Preview: Arrupe Jesuit Generals vs. Prospect Ridge Academy Miners

The Arrupe Jesuit Generals will take on the Prospect Ridge Academy Miners at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with five consecutive losses for Arrupe Jesuit and 16 for Prospect Ridge Academy.

Arrupe Jesuit is likely headed into the game with a focus on the second half, which is when things went downhill against The Academy on Tuesday. Arrupe Jesuit took a hard 41-25 fall against The Academy.

Meanwhile, Prospect Ridge Academy took a blow against Denver Christian on Tuesday, falling 67-30. While losing is never fun, the Miners can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 271st, while the Thunder are ranked 31st).

Arrupe Jesuit will have to contain Kayah Robbins as she made an impact in Prospect Ridge Academy's last game. She dropped a double-double with 14 points and 21 boards. That was a full 46.7% of Prospect Ridge Academy's points, marking the eighth time in a row Robbins has posted more than a third of the team's points. Amelia Waggoner was another key player, putting up nine points and six rebounds.

Even though they lost, Prospect Ridge Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their offensive rebound total in three consecutive contests.

Prospect Ridge Academy's loss dropped their record down to 3-18. As for Arrupe Jesuit, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-12.

Arrupe Jesuit was taken down by Prospect Ridge Academy 73-33 in their previous matchup back in December of 2021.
