Baseball Recap: Floyd Sets Scoring Season-High Against Dora

Floyd had lost 11 straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 0-7 to make it 12. They fell 17-12 to the Dora Coyotes. On the bright side, the 12- run effort marked the Broncos' highest-scoring matchup to date.

Adan Nieto was cooking despite his team's loss, going 4-for-5 with one home run, three stolen bases, and three runs. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Brayden Parks, who went 4-for-5 with five stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

As for Dora, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-9. With that victory, they brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.

On Dora's side, Roddy Neal made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over 4.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off four hits. That's the most strikeouts Neal has posted since back in April of 2024. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. He has become a key player for Dora: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least three hits, but 1-8 otherwise.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ashton Davis, who went 3-for-4 with six stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 1.2 stolen bases per game. Rylan Harris was another key player, going 2-for-5 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Dora beat Floyd by a score of 14-11 later that day.
