Baseball Recap: Island Coast Picks Up Fifth Straight Win at Home

Island Coast won the last time they faced Fort Myers and things went their way on Thursday too. The Island Coast Gators skirted past the Fort Myers Green Wave 3-2. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Gators.

Hunter Fretwell looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, he also racked up two strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March of 2024.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Grady Schwiezer, who went 2-for-3 with one home run. What's more, he also racked up two hits, the most he's had since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Logan Hawkins, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Island Coast's win was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 2-0. As for Fort Myers, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 2-1.
