Oak Hill Academy locks up No. 2 spot with Saturday win at Dick's Nationals.

After several years of frustration at Dick's Sporting Goods High School Nationals – including back-to-back championship game losses – Oak Hill Academy (Mouth of Wilson, Va.) and legendary head coach Steve Smith finally broke through at Madison Square Garden on Saturday.

The Warriors needed overtime and some last-second drama to get it done in New York City, however.

Khadim Sy, a 6-foot-9 Virginia Tech-bound post player, tipped in a missed shot at the buzzer to give Oak Hill Academy (45-1) a 62-60 win over La Lumiere (LaPorte, Ind.) and the program its first Dick's Nationals title.

The Virginia powerhouse entered the event ranked No. 2 nationally and that is where it will stay as California state champion Chino Hills wrapped up national championship status a week ago.

Thanks to the play of Braxton Key (20 points, nine rebounds) and Lindell Wigginton (16 points), Oak Hill built an 18-point lead in the third quarter.

But La Lumiere (27-4) rallied behind junior star Brian Bowen, who matched Key's total of 20 points and nine rebounds. Isaiah Coleman-Lands added 13 points and nine rebounds for the Lakers, who likely solidified a Top 10 national finish in New York City.
