Basketball Recap: Providence Comes Up Short

Providence was the 64-45 winner over New Albany when they last played one another back in February of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Providence Pioneers fell just short of the New Albany Bulldogs by a score of 48-46 on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Pioneers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 70th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 14th).

Providence's defeat dropped their record down to 14-3. As for New Albany, they pushed their record up to 15-4 with the win, which was their third straight at home.

Coming up, Providence won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Scott County at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. Providence is facing Scott County at the right time seeing as Scott County is stuck on a seven-game losing streak. As for New Albany, they will square off against Corydon Central at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
