Basketball Game Preview: Etiwanda Eagles vs. Fairmont Prep Huskies

Having just played yesterday, the Etiwanda Eagles will jump right back in to play the Fairmont Prep Huskies at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.

Etiwanda is headed into the contest after thoroughly thrashing Vista Murrieta: they outscored them in every quarter. Etiwanda walked away with a 69-57 win over Vista Murrieta on Friday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Eagles.

Fairmont Prep has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They were three points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 61-58 heartbreaker at the hands of La Mirada. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Huskies have suffered since December 28, 2023.

Fairmont Prep's defeat dropped their record down to 6-2. As for Etiwanda, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season.

Etiwanda came out on top in a nail-biter against Fairmont Prep in their previous matchup back in January of 2020, sneaking past 43-41. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Fairmont Prep's Atin Wright, who posted 22 points in addition to six boards and three steals. Now that he won't be playing on Saturday, will it be easier for Etiwanda to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
