Recap: Prairie View Thunderhawks vs. Mullen Mustangs
After flying high against the Rangeview Raiders last Friday, The Prairie View Thunderhawks came back down to earth. Prairie View took a hard 41-24 fall against Mullen on Friday. Prairie View lost against Mullen in their previous head to head back in October of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 38-23 score last time.
Despite the loss, Prairie View still got an impressive performance from Ben Nichols, who rushed for 122 yards and a touchdown.
Mullen was led to victory by Koa Dietrich and Dante Dupuch. Dietrich threw for 201 yards and two touchdowns on only 18 passes, while Dupuch rushed for 208 yards and a touchdown while picking up 8.7 yards per carry. Hildeberto Antillon got in on the action as well, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Prairie View has not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-5 record this season. As for Mullen, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
Prairie View will look to defend their home field on Friday against Horizon at 7:00 p.m. As for Mullen, they will head out on the road to face off against Rangeview at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Rangeview will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Colorado Rankings (they are ranked 137th, while Mullen is ranked 43rd).
