Sturgis West is 2-8 against St. John Paul II since April of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Navigators will host the Lions at 6:45 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Friday.

If Nantucket wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Sturgis West, they should've done a better job of containing JoJo Sader. The Navigators were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Whalers on Wednesday for which the team can thank Sader, who had eight aces and seven digs. She is on a roll when it comes to aces, as she's now served three or more in each of the last three games she's played.
The final score came out to 25-6, 25-12, 25-18.
Meanwhile, St. John Paul II hadn't done well against Bishop Stang recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Lions put the hurt on the Spartans with a sharp 3-0 win. The Lions not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since September 22nd (when they won 3-0).
Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-9, 25-20, 25-13.
The victory got St. John Paul II back to even at 8-8. As for Sturgis West, their win bumped their record up to 5-8.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's contest: Sturgis West has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 12.7 aces per game. However, it's not like St. John Paul II struggles in that department as they've been averaging 14.3 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
