Football Game Preview: Clay-Chalkville Cougars vs. Huffman Vikings + How To Watch

Clay-Chalkville is a perfect 8-0 against Huffman since September of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Cougars will challenge the Vikings at 7:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Clay-Chalkville has seven straight wins, Huffman has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Clay-Chalkville is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Alabama's top teams: Mountain Brook, who was ranked 16th at the time (Clay-Chalkville was ranked first). The Cougars simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat the Spartans 49-0. Considering the Cougars have won six games by more than 26 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Aaron Frye continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, throwing for 215 yards and four touchdowns while completing 82.4% of his passes, and also rushing for 117 yards and one score on only ten carries. Joshua Woods also helped with two TDs in total.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Clay-Chalkville was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 231 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 189 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.

Clay-Chalkville didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Brayden Butler and Deon Callins. Colton McIntyre was another major factor on D, making seven total tackles (5.0 for loss).

Meanwhile, Huffman took a blow against Shades Valley on Friday, falling 34-7.

Huffman's loss dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Clay-Chalkville, their victory bumped their record up to 7-0.

Everything came up roses for Clay-Chalkville against Huffman in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 66-12 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cougars since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
