Baseball Recap: Craig County Rockets vs. Eastern Montgomery Mustangs        
        
		
            
 Sadly, Craig County is still looking for their first win of the season after six  games. They took  a  6-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Eastern Montgomery Mustangs on Tuesday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Craig County of the  6-3 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture  back in May of 2023.
 For Eastern Montgomery's part,  Austin Tate spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered  just two earned runs on three hits and racked up 13 Ks. Tate has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't  tossed less than seven  strikeouts in three consecutive pitching appearances.
 At the plate, Eastern Montgomery's victory was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was  Hunter Howard, who  scored two  runs and  stole a base while going 2-for-4.  Drew Smith was another key contributor,  scoring a  run and  stealing a base while going 1-for-2.
 Craig County's loss dropped their record down to 0-6. As for Eastern Montgomery,  the  win  made it two in a row for them and  bumps their season record up to 7-3.
 Both  squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Craig County will  challenge Parry McCluer at 5:00  p.m.  on Thursday. As for Eastern Montgomery, they will head out on the road to  face off against  Highland at 5:00  p.m.  on Thursday. Highland is strutting in with some hitting muscle, as they've averaged 8.3  runs per game this season.
