Soccer Game Preview: Streamwood vs. Sycamore

Streamwood is on a three-game streak of home wins, while Sycamore is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Sabres will welcome the Spartans at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Neither squad made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

The home team had won the previous four meetings between Streamwood and South Elgin, and South Elgin kept the tradition alive. The Sabres came up short against the Storm on Thursday, falling 8-0. Streamwood haven't had much luck with South Elgin recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Meanwhile, Sycamore kept a clean sheet against DeKalb on Saturday. They won by a goal and slipped past the Barbs 1-0. The final result isn't all the surprising considering Sycamore's considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois soccer rankings (they are ranked 120th, while DeKalb are ranked 257th).

Sycamore's one-goal win came courtesy of Cortni Kruizenga, who's now up to 16 this season.

Sycamore is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-3-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 33 goals over those seven matches. As for Streamwood, their loss dropped their record down to 12-7.
