Softball Preview: East Hartford Hornets vs. East Catholic Eagles

The East Hartford Hornets will head out on the road to challenge the East Catholic Eagles at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. East Hartford is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.8 runs per game this season.

East Hartford will bounce into Thursday's matchup after beating South Windsor, who they hadn't topped in nine consecutive meetings. East Hartford walked away with a 7-2 victory over South Windsor on Monday. Winning may never get old, but East Hartford sure is getting used to it with their third in a row.

Izzy Brito made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. Brito has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't pitched less than five innings in five consecutive pitching appearances. Brito was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 4-for-4.

In other batting news, Julea Casaol was excellent, going 2-for-4 with a triple, a run, and an RBI.

In other batting news, East Catholic got a massive performance out of Delaney Poach, who went 2-for-3 with a home run, five RBI, and three runs. Marina Juan was another key contributor, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

The win got East Hartford back to even at 6-6. As for East Catholic, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-6 record this season.
