Football Recap: Yucaipa Find Success + How To Watch

Yucaipa's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They put the hurt on the Shadow Hills Knights with a sharp 45-20 win. The Thunderbirds have beaten the Knights the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Knights has come to flipping the script.

Deace Turner was a one-man wrecking crew as he rushed for 115 yards and a pair of TDs on only ten carries, and also threw for 147 yards and one touchdown while completing 71.4% of his passes. That's the most passing yards he has posted since back in September of 2024. Lu Sartin also helped out with an impressive 100 receiving yards.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Yucaipa was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 242 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 159 rushing yards in six consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Several Knights players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Brandon Peffers, who picked up 89 receiving yards and two scores.

Yucaipa's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Shadow Hills, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.

Yucaipa has already played their next matchup, a 37-21 win against Palm Desert on the 12th. As for Shadow Hills, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 44-10 victory against Desert Hot Springs on the 12th.
