Softball Recap: Sachse Mustangs vs. North Garland Raiders
After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Wylie, Sachse was happy to have turned things around on Friday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the North Garland Raiders a 15-0 shutout. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for Sachse considering their two-run performance the match before.
Isabella Penk was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). Penk has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive pitching appearances. Penk was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.
In other batting news, Malani Hill and Kamila Ochoa did most of the damage at the plate: Hill scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2, while Ochoa scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2. The victory got Sachse back to even at 15-15-3. As for North Garland, they dropped their record down to 1-17 with that defeat, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season.
