The Destrehan Wildcats will challenge the East Ascension Spartans at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The last four games Destrehan has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
Last Thursday, Destrehan didn't have quite enough to beat Vandebilt Catholic and fell 2-1.
Destrehan saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jolie Lozano, who went 1-for-4 with one RBI.
Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last contest, East Ascension made sure to put some runs up on the board against Riverside Academy on Monday. The Spartans came out on top against the Rebels by a score of 11-7. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Spartans' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.
Mya Lanoux was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Cayden Tullier, who scored two runs and stole four bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
East Ascension moved to 16-12 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Destrehan, they dropped their record down to 21-12 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road.
East Ascension's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Destrehan has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.4 hits per game. It's a different story for East Ascension, though, as they've been averaging 9.1 hits. Given Destrehan's sizable advantage in that area, the Spartans will need to find a way to close that gap.
Destrehan was able to grind out a solid victory over East Ascension in their previous matchup back in February of 2021, winning 4-1. Do the Wildcats have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Spartans turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
