Softball Recap: El Rancho Drops Highest Score of Season Against Katella

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask El Rancho). They were the clear victor by a 13-1 margin over the Katella Knights on Friday. Considering the Dons have won three games by more than seven runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Jaelynn Barragan looked comfortable as she didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Noelie Guerrero, who fired off two home runs, five RBI, and three runs while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in runs. Another player making a difference was Delilah Gonzalez, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

El Rancho kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Katella only managed three hits.

The victory got El Rancho back to even at 3-3. As for Katella, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-3.

Coming up, El Rancho will head out on the road to take on Warren at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Katella, they have already played their next contest, a 13-11 win against St. Monica on the 1st.
