Preview: Howland Tigers vs. Hudson Explorers
The Howland Tigers are on the road again on Thursday and play against the Hudson Explorers at 7:30 p.m. on December 28th. Howland will be strutting in after a win while Hudson will be coming in after a loss.
Last Friday, Howland earned a 51-38 win over Newton Falls.
Alex Henry was his usual excellent self, scoring 22 points along with six rebounds and three steals. The game was his third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Anthony Chieffo, who scored eight points.
Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, Hudson's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a 58-51 hit to the loss column at the hands of Streetsboro. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Hudson came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 59th, while Streetsboro is ranked 535th).
The win got Howland back to even at 4-4. As for Hudson, their loss dropped their record down to 6-2.
Things could have been worse for Howland, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 55-38 loss to Hudson in their previous matchup back in January of 2021. Can Howland avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
