Football Game Preview: SA Roosevelt Rough Riders vs. Clark Cougars

The SA Roosevelt Rough Riders will venture away from home to face off against the Clark Cougars at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Clark took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on SA Roosevelt, who comes in off a win.

On Friday, SA Roosevelt didn't have too much trouble with Churchill as they won 41-27. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Rough Riders.

SA Roosevelt found their leader in sophomore Xavion Chambers, who rushed for 124 yards and a pair of scores while picking up 7.3 yards per carry, and also threw for 196 yards and three TDs while completing 71.4% of his passes. Those 124 rushing yards set a new season-high mark for Chambers. Lamarque Mackey was another key player, rushing for 84 yards and one touchdown.

SA Roosevelt was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 297 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 31 points the game before, Clark was a bit more limited in their contest on Saturday. They were beaten by Brandeis 30-0. The matchup marked the first time this year in which the Cougars were not able to get on the board.

Having lost for the first time this season, Clark fell to 6-1. As for SA Roosevelt, the victory was their first at home , bumping their record up to 2-5.

SA Roosevelt lost to Clark on the road by a decisive 35-21 margin when the teams last played back in October of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of the Cougars' Isaiah Santillan, who threw for 156 yards and three TDs while completing 75% of his passes.
