Softball Recap: Carson Takes a Loss

Carson lost against Central Cabarrus back in February, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Cougars fell 5-2 to the Vikings. The Cougars' loss continues a trend for the squad, making it four in a row.

Caylee Snow was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she struck out nine batters over six innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Carson saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Leah Troutman, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Carson's defeat dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Central Cabarrus, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season.

Carson will square off against A.L. Brown at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Cougars' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Wonders have averaged an impressive 6.8 runs per game this season. As for Central Cabarrus, they will be playing at home against East Rowan at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
