4A Metro Top Player Performances of the Week

Congratulations to this week's top players! We're covering the best performances from Friday's football action (using all statistics entered as of the time of writing). Enjoy!

Ian Mckinnon's Rushing Yards a New Career-High

Starting off the list is Southeast Guilford's Ian Mckinnon, who we judged to be the best player in the league this week. On Friday Mckinnon made 11 total tackles, good enough to also set a new career-high in rushing yards in the process. He also punched in two rushing touchdowns, which is notable because Southeast Guilford is undefeated when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns, but 1-3 otherwise.

The victory (which was Southeast Guilford's third in a row) raised their record to 5-3. They and Northwest Guilford will meet in a classic North v. South matchup at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.

Faizon Brandon Turns in Season-Best Effort

On Friday, Grimsley got the W thanks in part to Faizon Brandon playing the best football he has all season. Brandon rushed for 108 yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 136 yards and two touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes. The effort marked the most rushing yards he has had since back in August of 2023. His longest rush was for an incredible 86 yards.

Southwest Guilford's probably not too fond of Brandon given he always seems to get the better of them. Brandon threw for 204 yards and four touchdowns on only 14 passes, and also rushed for 40 yards the last time he and the Cowboys duked it out back in October of 2023.
