Basketball Game Preview: Wimberley Texans vs. Ray Texans

Wimberley is headed into the game after thoroughly thrashing St. Andrew's: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Texans blew the Highlanders out of the water with a 74-28 final score. The matchup was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Texans had established a 41-point advantage.

Wimberley's win on Tuesday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Paul Gumbert-Mendoza, who shot 55% from the field to rack up 15 points in addition to six assists and four steals. Gumbert-Mendoza has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 22 times he's played. Another player making a difference was Nathan Baker, who went 5-for-10 on his way to 12 points along with seven boards and four steals.

Meanwhile, Ray had to kick off their season on the road on Tuesday, but they showed no ill effects. Everything went their way against Victoria West as they made off with a 72-51 victory.
