Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Charlotte Elite Academy). They walked away with a 70-59 victory over the Lab University Prep Regional Kings on Thursday. The win was all the more spectacular given the Soldiers' disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 372nd, while the Kings are ranked 151st).

Charlotte Elite Academy's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Deshaun Nicholson, who dropped a double-double with 18 points and 15 rebounds. Those 18 points gave Nicholson a new career-high. Davis Huffman was another key player, going 5-for-10 en route to 16 points along with seven assists and four steals.

Charlotte Elite Academy's win bumped their record up to 9-12. As for Lab University Prep Regional, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 16-9.

Coming up, Charlotte Elite Academy will square off against Varsity Opponent at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Lab University Prep Regional, they will face off against Tournament Opponent on Saturday.
