Baseball Game Preview: King's Academy Lions vs. Somerset Academy - Canyons Cougars

A feisty cat fight will be fought as King's Academy Lions face off against Somerset Academy - Canyons Cougars at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.

Last Thursday, King's Academy came up short against Calvary Christian Academy and fell 5-1. The Lions have struggled against the Eagles recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meetings.

Meanwhile, Somerset Academy - Canyons had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.7 runs) and they went ahead and made it seven on Friday. Everything went their way against the Trojans as they made off with a 15-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Cougars, who have now won seven matchups by nine runs or more so far this season.

Freddy Haney was a standout: he scored three runs and stole Two bases. while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in doubles (two). Another player making a difference was Jacob Miller, who scored three runs and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-4.

Somerset Academy - Canyons' win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-3. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for King's Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 5-3.

King's Academy beat Somerset Academy - Canyons 7-4 when the teams last played back in March of 2023. Will King's Academy repeat their success, or does Somerset Academy - Canyons have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
