Basketball Game Preview: Northridge Polar Bears vs. Eaton Eagles

The Northridge Polar Bears will square off against the Eaton Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Northridge will be looking to extend their current eight-game winning streak.

Last Thursday, Northridge got the win against Lehman Catholic by a conclusive 57-31. Given the Polar Bears' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 148th, while the Cavaliers are ranked 615th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Northridge's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Saknia Davis, who went 5 for 6 to rack up 13 points. The dominant performance gave Davis a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayah Martin, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 11 boards.

Northridge smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in four consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Eaton). They took their contest on Saturday with ease, bagging a 63-36 win over National Trail. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Eagles have posted since January 8th.

Eaton's win bumped their record up to 4-17. As for Northridge, their victory bumped their record up to 17-5.

Everything came up roses for Northridge against Eaton in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, as the team secured a 58-22 win. In that game, Northridge amassed a halftime lead of 29-7, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Thursday.
