Baseball Recap: Schoolhouse Prep Gets the Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Braddock, Schoolhouse Prep was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They came out on top against the Benjamin Buccaneers by a score of 9-6.

Victor Bosquez looked comfortable as he pitched 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Schoolhouse Prep is 4-2 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 4-6 otherwise.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Gian Caicedo, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one double. That's the most hits he has posted since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Rogelio Perez, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

The win got Schoolhouse Prep back to even at 8-8. As for Benjamin, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-8.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Schoolhouse Prep will take on Coral Park at 3:30 p.m. on April 1. Schoolhouse Prep is facing Coral Park at the right time seeing as Coral Park is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Benjamin, they will face off against Montverde Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Montverde Academy will roll in looking for their ninth straight victory, something Benjamin surely won't give up without a fight.
