The St. Bede Bruins are taking a road trip to face off against the IC Catholic Prep Knights at 11:00 p.m. on Saturday. St. Bede is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.6 runs per game this season.
While St. Bede's win against Putnam County wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Bruins' pitcher stepped up to hand the Panthers a 2-0 shutout on Thursday. The Bruins haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive victory against them.
Not much got past Macy Strauch, who gave up just eight hits to keep Putnam County off the board. Strauch has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, St. Bede saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Emma Slingsby, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run. Slingsby has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played.
Meanwhile, IC Catholic Prep got the win against Saint Ignatius College Prep on Friday by a conclusive 9-3. The result was nothing new for the Knights, who have now won nine contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Madelynn Dinino spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on six hits and racked up six Ks.
On the hitting side, Sofia Bucaro and Kelly Cahill did most of the damage at the plate: Bucaro went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases and three runs, while Cahill went 2-for-5 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. That's the most stolen bases Bucaro has posted over her last 12 games. Ariani Zito was another key player, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
IC Catholic Prep kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They are a perfect 10-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
IC Catholic Prep pushed their record up to 15-11 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for St. Bede, their record now sits at 13-9.
Saturday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. St. Bede hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .340. However, it's not like IC Catholic Prep struggles in that department as they've averaged .370. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
St. Bede couldn't quite get it done against IC Catholic Prep in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 as they fell 5-2. Can the Bruins avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
