Baseball Recap: Walker Valley Takes a Loss

Walker Valley extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping them down to 8-17. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 9-8 heartbreaker at the hands of the Silverdale Academy Seahawks. Surprisingly, this marked the fourth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor in this series.

As for Silverdale Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games.

For Silverdale Academy's part, Drake Dills made a big impact no matter where he played. He pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, Dills posted two strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Caleb Voss, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs and one RBI. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jacob Murray, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Walker Valley will host Cleveland at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Silverdale Academy, they will look to defend their home field on Monday against Notre Dame at 4:30 p.m.
